Home Court: The Hartranft Basketball Court Revival is a major new exhibit created in collaboration with community members and top Philly artists — photographer Shawn Theodore, composer Mike McDermott, and hiphop collective Ill Doots.

Tour “Home Court: The Hartranft Basketball Court Revival,” a 2500 sq. foot participatory art exhibit exploring the past, present, and future of the courts. The exhibit is open until July 18.

For 9 months, The Village of Arts and Humanities collaborated with renowned Philadelphia-based artists Shawn Theodore, ILL DOOTS and Michael McDermott and more than 50 coaches, players, parents, and community members to create a complex portrait and vision for the courts, a key cultural hub in our neighborhood.

During May, the exhibit served as a gathering space and community forum for the neighborhood to meet with resource partners and begin a dialogue about the future of the courts. Now we are sharing the joy, sorrow, and organizing history of the courts with everyone! Experience photography, audio, video and historical information about the basketball courts and the people who care for them.
